GROW Is Honored to Be Recognized as a Diversity Visionary Awards Winner!
GROW is excited to announce that we were recently recognized as a Rising Star Award Winner at the Diversity Visionary Awards, put on by the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
The Diversity Visionary Awards was part of the D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) Summit, where Chamber members and the community came together to gain a deeper understanding of the business case for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Bonnie Nawara, CEO of GROW shares, “GROW is thrilled to be recognized as a Diversity Visionary Award Recipient at the Rising Star level by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. GROW’s entire board and staff are dedicated to being champions of equitable and inclusive economic growth for entrepreneurs in our communities.”
The Awards Ceremony recognized employers who are making organizational strides in diversity and inclusion. The award measures accomplishments using 5 criteria:
- Leadership Commitment
- Diverse Talent
- Internal Processes
- Diverse Supply Chain
- Community Engagement.
Like the Chamber, we at GROW believe diversity makes us stronger. We are proudly committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within our organization and our business community.
Proof of that commitment can be seen in the work we do with many diverse groups throughout West Michigan. There’s strength in numbers, by sponsoring and participating in many community events and putting additional support behind their efforts through advertising, we hope to add value to their cause and overall organization goals. We’ve also made our programming more accessible to everyone by converting many of our materials to Spanish, and holding some classes in Spanish here at GROW and through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
We aren’t stopping there. We understand that connecting with the diverse groups and communities that make West Michigan what it is, will continue to help them thrive. We get involved at the grass roots levels with entrepreneurs who create small businesses that impact their community.
In addition, the GROW Board as a whole has undergone training and mentoring to bring awareness of diversity and inclusion to the entire organization, strategy, and structure. Internally, we’ve also adopted practices and strategies created with Inclusion Performance Strategies, giving GROW a customized framework that helps us promote systemic inclusive change.
The summit and awards luncheon took place on November 17th, and GROW Board Member Jason Reep lead a wonderful breakout session entitled, “Cultural Transition: Moving from a Corporate Culture to an Inclusive Culture.”
We are honored to receive this distinction as a Rising Star supporting Diversity and Inclusion from the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce and will continue to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion throughout our organization and the West Michigan community.
