Nevertheless, She Persisted… Celebrating Women’s Equality Day

What is Women’s Equality Day?

Today is Women’s Equality Day! But here at GROW, we don’t use only today as a reason to celebrate the successes of women. We focus each and every day on working toward providing women entrepreneurs with the tools they need to be successful in all aspects of life; to be truly equal.

In 1973, Congress declared August 26 as Women’s Equality Day to commemorate the addition of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It was on August 26, 1920, that women won the right to vote and hold public office. We don’t shy away from the fact that it was white women who were awarded this right, and that’s why GROW promotes and works for diversity. Women’s Equality Day is meant to celebrate all of the ways women have progressed over the years, but to also remind us that the work is not done. It’s a day to recognize and remember the goal we’re working toward: equality for women.

Why It Matters to Us

GROW is dedicated to the empowerment of women entrepreneurs and to helping them start and grow their businesses. By supporting a diverse client base in terms of ethnicity, backgrounds, and gender, we are able to positively impact our local communities and strive for true equality for women everywhere.

Women’s Equality Day is a symbol of the power of women, and we’re excited to celebrate it with the successful women entrepreneurs of Western Michigan. As women who champion other women, we spend this day remembering those who came before us, those who are present now, and all those who will work toward equality in the future.

Cheers to women doing big things, small things, and everything in between! If you’re looking to start a business or need help with any aspects of a business endeavor, contact us today!
