Since the age of 16, Josephine White has had a passion for doing hair. After graduating from Western Michigan University she decided to pursue her dreams, and, in the middle of the 2008 recession, left her corporate job to attend Empire Beauty School. After graduation, Josephine began building her clientele steadily over the next 5 years. While working at another salon, she was given the opportunity to buy her own salon. After a year of negotiating her dream of owning a salon, JoJo’s House of Beauty, Inc. became a reality on July 9, 2014.

JoJo’s House of Beauty, Inc. is a multicultural, diverse salon designed to serve women and men of all color and hair texture. Their goal is to uplift, motivate, educate and inspire clients by providing the highest quality service to meet their needs.

In addition to the growing salon, Josephine also created a unique hair growth oil with her business partner Dr. Nichole Caudle, who is a Naturopathic Doctor. With their combined experience, they created J & N Happy Hair Oil because they had heard from many women complaining about their hair breaking off and falling out because of different reasons.

Josephine became connected to GROW in 2011 and the first class she attended was “Minding Your Own Business”. She spent 12 weeks putting her business plan together and, during that time, also met many aspiring business owners who were trying to figure out their business as well.

“My involvement in GROW has been amazing. GROW is there if I need help or support with people reviewing my financials or helping me develop content for my employee handbook,” states Josephine. “Bonnie has introduced me to other business owners who sourced bottles for the hair growth oil, so it is an invaluable and comprehensive business resource.”

Josephine understands that sometimes business owners can get caught up with their own business and start to feel alone. She says, “There are plenty of resources, and I will tell anyone that GROW is remarkable if you need help. They are connected to people that can help you achieve your goals.”
